Last years to death
After jail, Capone lost lots of weight as well as his physical and mental health from neurosyphilis. He then lost all interest in organized crime. His mental abilities were examined and said to be one of a 12-year-old. Capone began to go crazy, thinking communists and others were planning to kill him.
On January 21, 1947 while in his Florida mansion, Capone had a stroke. He survived and progressively began to improve until he caught pneumonia. A day later, Capone had a severe cardiac arrest. He then died on January 25, 1947 in his mansion surrounded by his family. He was burried at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
